Jacqueline Meekins, ARNP

Nurse Practitioner
Jacqueline L. Meekins ARNP was born in Gainesville Florida, but partially raised in Brooklyn New York. Prior to her entering nursing school, she was participated in middle and high school outreach mentoring programs for under privileged youth. These programs provided educational awareness with college preparation tools. They also encouraged the youth to dream beyond their surroundings and to think about what was possible, and therefore foster hope for a better future. Jacqueline’s nursing career began at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, where she received her primary nursing education and Bachelors Degree. After practicing for several years as a staff and clinical resource nurse within in the bone marrow transplant, hematology/oncology and surgical intensive care units, at Shands Teaching Hospital, and Emory University Hospital, she decided to further her nursing career as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. This decision was made not because of her love for providing patient care, but her belief that she could make the greatest impact with her wealth of nursing excellence, as well as, the desire to assist with moving the healthcare industry forward.

She entered and completed her master’s education at Nell Hodgson’s Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University on a full scholarship, where she also graduated with honors. After that she accepted her first ARNP position within the Liver Transplant department and then the Neurosurgery department at Emory University Hospital where she utilized her nursing knowledge and excellence to provide the highest quality of patient care.

Jacqueline joined our neurosurgery practice January 2018, with the desire to continue to provide the highest quality of advanced practice nursing and evidence based medicine to our patient population, enriched with the underpinnings of sincere integrity and compassion for human life. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, a love for her profession, and the desire to continue to build upon her prior knowledge and skills, to assist with educating and caring for our healthcare population.

She has also continued to participate in outreach programs for under privileged youth, in between providing care for her elderly mother, and works out at Gainesville Health and fitness to keep herself healthy and fit
